Friedrich Lieder, Baron von Milich-Also Lukavecz
Slightly side-on bust portrait of Baron Nicolaus von Milich Lukavez with his gaze directed towards the viewer, watercolour on paper, inscribed, signed and dated "paint par Fried. Lieder 1840", inscribed on the reverse "Nikolaus v Milich-Also Lukavecz d. 31/XII 1865", and extract on the artist from Thieme-Becker, browned and some light stains, framed behind glass in Venetian moulding (minimal losses), on frame label "Friedr. Lieder 1780-1859 Wien", folding dimensions approx. 23.5 x 17.5 cm, enclosed watercolour lithograph made for this portrait, on the reverse with details of the artist, framed behind glass, folding dimensions approx. 10 x 13 cm. Artist's info: actually Friedrich Johann Gottlieb Lieder, called Franz Lieder, German portrait painter and lithographer (1780 Potsdam to 1859 Budapest), 1797 represented with two drawings at the Berlin Academy Exhibition, from 1804 studies at the École des Beaux-Arts and here pupil of Jacques-Louis David, received numerous commissions from the Hungarian nobility, from 1812 active in Vienna, stay in Verona, 1816-19 stay in Berlin and appointment as court painter to Friedrich Wilhelm III, from 1824 member of the Vienna Academy, Source: Thieme-Becker, Wurzbach and Wikipedia.
