Crystalline structures depicting a scene with houses by the sea, watercolour and opaque white over graphite drawing, signed and dated lower right "W. Hempel (19)54", framed under mount and behind glass, mount cut-out approx. 18.5 x 26 cm. Artist info: German painter and graphic artist, (1906 Königsberg to 1985 Paros, Greece), 1927-29 studied at the Königsberg Art Academy with Stanislaus Kauer, from 1931 active as a freelance artist in Berlin, 1933 emigration to Italy and then to Yugoslavia, friendship with Rolf Cavael and Willi Baumeister, founding member of the group Zen 49, Source: Internet.
