Augustin Nemejc, Peasant Woman at Work
Woman sorting grains in peasant costume, pastel, signed and dated lower left "Aug. Nemejc 1903", inscribed on the back of the frame on a mounted note "Dem Dr. Smutny von Aug. Nemejc", attractively framed behind glass, folding dimensions approx. 55 x 45 cm. Artist's info: Czech painter (1861 Nepomuk to 1938 Pilsen), from 1875 apprenticeship as a watchmaker, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Frantisek Sequens and Maximilian Pirner, from 1883 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Alexander von Wagner, afterwards worked as a painter and art teacher in Pilsen, one year stay in Paris, 1900 painted the curtain of the Josef Kajetán Tyl Theatre, source: Wikipedia (Czech Republic).
