Vintage Madonna with the Child Jesus in front of a bouquet of flowers, watercolour on Japanese paper, signed and dated "Ast (19)47" lower right, stamp on the reverse "Nachlass Prof. Schaefer-Ast *7.1.1890 + 15.9.1951", as well as number "2" and signature, somewhat stained, creased at margins, torn and some tears backed, stamp showing through, sheet size approx. 63,5 x 48 cm. Artist's info: also Albert-Schäfer-Ast, German draughtsman and caricaturist (1890 Barmen to 1951 Weimar), apprenticeship as a sculptor, 1906-11 studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule Düsseldorf, worked for several magazines, participated in the 1st World War, was dismissed by the National Socialists as an artist.
