still lake with a shore covered with reeds and some groups of trees in a flat landscape under a blue sky, landscape painting in bright, warm colours, mixed media (watercolour and pen-and-ink) on paper, c. 1930, traces of drawing pins in the corners, slight creases and minimal stains, sheet measures c. 46 x 56.5 cm. Artist's info: German graphic artist, landscape and still life painter (1898 Langenhessen until 1974 Werdau), first apprenticeship as a painter, artistically mostly self-taught, military service in World War I, after 1918 working as a decorative painter, from 1927 exhibitions in Zwickau, Berlin and Dresden, from 1936 freelance in Werdau, 1938 trip to Italy, 1943-46 military service in World War II and war captivity in Oldenburg.
