Künstlerinfo: dt. Maler, Zeichner und Graphiker (1891 Karlsruhe bis 1979 Karlsruhe), bedeutender Vertreter der “Neuen Sachlichkeit” und des “Verismus”, 1908-12 Studium an der Akademie Karlsruhe bei Walter Georgi, Freundschaft zu Georg Scholz und Rudolf Schlichter, anschließend mit George Grosz und Oskar Nerlinger Schüler der Unterrichtsanstalt am Kunstgewerbemuseum Berlin bei Emil Orlik, nach Kriegsdienst 1918-20 Genesungsaufenthalt in Neuenbürg/Bruchsal, 1920-22 Meisterschüler bei Walter Conz und Württemberger in Karlsruhe, ab 1922 wieder Studium bei Emil Orlik an der Akademie Berlin, 1924 als Dozent für Lithographie an der Akademie in Karlsruhe, hier 1928 zum Professor ernannt, unternahm Studienreisen nach Frankreich und beschickte Ausstellungen der Neuen Sachlichkeit u. a. mit Otto Dix und George Grosz, 1930 Mitherausgeber der kritischen Künstlerzeitschrift „Zakpo“ in Karlsruhe, 1933 Entlassung als Professor und bis 1945 als „entartet“ diffamiert sowie mit Arbeitsverbot belegt, Ende 1939 in der Karlsruher Majolika Manufaktur tätig, 1940 Uhrenmaler, 1941-45 erneut als keramischer Maler in der Karlsruher Majolika Manufaktur, ab 1945 Mitglied der Antifaschistischen Gesellschaft Rastatt, 1947-57 erneut als Professor an die Akademie Karlsruhe berufen, unternahm nun Studienreisen nach Frankreich, Holland und Italien, 1965 Ehrengast der Villa Massimo in Rom, zahlreiche Ausstellungsbeteiligungen in den 1960er/70er Jahren, ab 1970 zunehmende Erblindung und Aufgabe des künstlerischen Schaffens, Quelle: Vollmer und Internet.
