sechs Blatt der 18 Radierungen umfassenden Folge "Les Grandes Misères de la guerre", jeweils unter der Darstellung Text und in der Platte bezeichnet "Jac. Callot fecit" und "Israel exc. 1633", unterschiedliche Erhaltung, Darstellungsgröße ohne Schrift je ca. 7,3 x 18,2 cm, Blattmaße ca. 9,6 x 20,3 cm. Künstlerinfo: bedeutender lothringischer Zeichner und Grafiker (1592 Nancy bis 1635 Nancy), ab 1607 kurzzeitige Lehre als Goldschmied, 1608-12 Aufenthalt in Rom und Lehre bei dem Kupferstecher Philippe Thomassin, anschließend trat er in Florenz in die Werkstatt von Antonio Tempestas ein, ab 1614 in erster Linie für Cosimo II. de´ Medici tätig, nach dessen Tod Rückkehr nach Nancy, Aufgrund finanzieller Schwierigkeiten Unterstützung durch Herzog Heinrich II. von Lothringen, gegen Ende der 1620er Jahre Reisen nach Paris und in die Niederlande, hier erhielt er zahlreiche Aufträge von verschiedenen Höfen, durch Anregung seiner Erlebnisse im Dreißigjährigen Krieg entstand die Folge "Les miséres de la guerre" (Die Gräuel des Krieges), Quelle: Thieme-Becker und Wikipedia.

Six sheets from the series of 18 etchings "Les Grandes Misères de la guerre", each with text below the image and inscribed in the plate "Jac. Callot fecit" and "Israel exc. 1633", varying condition, each image size without inscription approx. 7.3 x 18.2 cm, sheet dimensions approx. 9.6 x 20.3 cm. Artist's information: important Lorraine draughtsman and graphic artist (1592 Nancy to 1635 Nancy), from 1607 brief apprenticeship as a goldsmith, 1608-12 stay in Rome and apprenticeship with the engraver Philippe Thomassin, then joined the workshop of Antonio Tempestas in Florence, from 1614 worked primarily for Cosimo II. de' Medici, after his death he returned to Nancy, due to financial difficulties he received support from Duke Henry II of Lorraine, towards the end of the 1620s he travelled to Paris and the Netherlands, here he received numerous commissions from various courts, inspired by his experiences during the Thirty Years' War he created the series "Les miséres de la guerre" (The horrors of war), source: Thieme-Becker and Wikipedia.
