Info: das Hotel Elephant ist ein Luxushotel in Weimar und Teil der Marke The Luxury Collection der Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, gegründet wurde es im Jahr 1696 vom fürstlichen Mundschenk Christian Andreas Barritig als Wirtshaus am Marktplatz, kurze Zeit später wurde das Wirtshaus zur Poststation und als Quartier für Kaufleute und Reisende ausgebaut, Künstler verschiedenster Art waren hier zu Gast, hier tafelten die großen Klassiker, plauderten Schiller, später auch Liszt und Wagner u. von 1921 bis 1924 gingen Bauhauskünstler ein und aus, der Architekt Hermann Giesler errichtete es 1938 neu.
