Künstlerinfo: deutscher Bildhauer und Medailleur (1861 Leipzig bis 1932 ebenda), Ausbildung zum Lithographen, 1877-83 Studium an der Leipziger Kunstakademie unter Melchior zur Straßen, dann tätig in Berlin, ab 1885 bei Emil Hundrieser und Karl Schuler, ab 1886 bereiste er Italien und Paris, ab 1889 in Leipzig, er widmete sich von da an hauptsächlich der Portraitbildnerei, er arbeitet für seine Werke mit namhaften Gießereien wie Noack in Leipzig, Gladenbeck in Berlin, Pirner & Franz sowie Bierling in Dresden zusammen, zeitweise muss er wohl als Mitarbeiter Max Klingers tätig gewesen sein, er trug den Ehrentitel Geheimer Hofrat, durch Seffners Bemühungen in der bildhaften Rekonstruktion des Schädels Johann Sebastian Bachs wurde er zum Ehrenmitglied der Dresdner Kunstakademie ernannt, er leitete den Leipziger Gelehrten- und Künstlerbund, die Leoniden.
