Artist information: also Curt Mühlenhaupt, German painter, graphic artist, sculptor and writer (1921 Klein Ziescht to 2006 Bergsdorf), childhood in Berlin-Tempelhof, from 1935 apprenticeship as a model maker, later paratrooper in World War 2, injury and hospitalisation. Injured and hospitalised in World War II, studied art in Berlin from 1943, returned to war and wounded in 1945, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Maximilian Debus from 1946-48, dropped out of university in 1948 and worked as an animal breeder and organ grinder in Berlin-Karow, self-taught further training as an artist, moved to Marienfelde in 1956 and to Kreuzberg in West Berlin in 1958, from then on worked here as a painterly junk dealer and innkeeper, undertakes study trips to Paris, southern France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, New York and Moscow, from 1970 works exclusively as a freelance artist, founded the group "Malerpoeten" in 1972 with Günter Grass, Wolf-Dieter Schnurre, Wolfgang Schnell, organised numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad, works for a time in Berlin-Kladow, summer stays in the Montes de Cima valley in the Algarve, 1992-99 conversion of the estate in Bergsdorf near Zehdenick into a residence with studio and gallery, source: Eisold "Artists in the GDR", Wikipedia and Internet.
