The prototype of the SG 42 was developed in 1942 by the Wilhelm-Gustloff-Werke in Suhl. The Eickhorn company in Solingen took over series production. This example is probably a modern production.

Der Prototyp des SG 42 wurde 1942 von den Wilhelm-Gustloff-Werken in Suhl entwickelt. Die Serienproduktion übernahm die Firma Eickhorn in Solingen. Vorliegendes Exemplar wohl eine Variante aus neuzeitlicher Fertigung.
