Heavy Pallasch from the Wars of Liberation / Battle of Leipzig, Klingenthal Swordsmith, Alsace, 1812
Open-worked guard basket made of yellow cast metal, oval shield, extra-long slightly curved blade, both hilt and blade bear three marks, including the Klingenthal swordsmith, finely engraved inscription on the broad blade spine: "Manufacture Imp. alt. Die Klingenthal Octobre 1812," including the heavy iron scabbard, age-appropriate condition, grip and parts of the guard have been replaced, total length 112 cm, scabbard length 100.5 cm, blade length 97 cm.
In Klingenthal, located in the Vosges Mountains near Strasbourg, a royal arms manufactory was established in 1730 by King Louis XV of France. The swordsmith's workshop still operates today as a museum forge. It is believed that this heavy pallasch was used during the Battle of Leipzig in October 1813.

offen gearbeiteter Spangenkorb aus Gelbguss, ovales Stichblatt, überlange minimal gebogene Klinge, Gefäß sowie Klinge jeweils mit drei Punzen u.a. der Schwertfegerei Klingenthal, auf dem breiten Klingenrücken feine Gravur: Ma (nu) f (ac) ture Imp. alt. Die Klingenthal Octobre 1812, dazu die schwere Scheide, in Eisen gearbeitet, altersgemäße Erhaltung, Griffstück ergänzt, Korb in Teilen ergänzt, gesamt L. 112 cm, Scheide L. 100,5 cm, Klingenlänge 97 cm
In Klingenthal am Flüsschen Ehn, in den Vogesen etwa 30 km von Straßburg entfernt gelegen, wurde 1730 durch den französischen König Ludwig XV. eine königliche Manufaktur für Blankwaffen gegründet. Die Schwertfegerei wird heute noch als Museumsschmiede betrieben. Es kann angenommen werden, dass dieser schwere Pallasch im Oktober 1813 auf der Völkerschlacht bei Leipzig geführt wurde.
