19th c. J. & E. Stevens "Tammany" Mechanical Bank
J. & E. Stevens Company, United States. Cast iron and pigment "Tammany" mechanical bank possibly depicting Tammany Hall leader William Magear "Boss" Tweed (American, 1823-1878), ca. 1873. When a coin is placed into the figure's hand, he deposits it into his jacket and nods.
Height: 6 in x width: 4 in x depth: 4 1/2 in.
Condition: The head and arm swivel and move but if they do not move together. Losses to the paint throughout and tarnishing to the metal. Wear to the underside.
