19th c. J. & E. Stevens Mechanical "Novelty Bank"
J. & E. Stevens Company, United States. Cast iron and piment mechanical "Novelty" coin bank, ca. 1878. When the door is opened, a man with a peel swivels outward, which a coin can be placed upon. When the door is shut, he deposits the coin into the bank. Marked along the lower edge of the back.
Height: 7 in x width: 5 in x depth: 5 in.
Condition: Discoloration to the metal and losses to the paint. The door of the bank opens well and the figure deposits the coin. The cover along the underside is missing. Wear to touch points and the underside.
