Bargueno Spanish Cabinet in carved wood, and golden fittings, New Spain colonial, 18th century
Splendid and delicate cabinet. Composed of a top cover. that hides a single drawer. The inner part of said lid presents marquetry decoration forming geometric designs. The lower body closes with two doors that present architectural decoration on the outside, and on the inside two central medallions, in which the portraits of an indigenous character representing Moctezuma Xocoyotzin and that of a conqueror, representing Moctezuma Xocoyotzin, appear in carving. Hernan Cortes. The interior hides five drawers and a false drawer in the upper part, fully decorated with a very delicate plateresque carved decoration. representing dragons and garlands "a candelieri", in contrasting woods. These same motifs are reproduced on the inside of the doors. around the aforementioned portraits. The handles of the drawers and the two doors are in gilt bronze and have the shape of a vase. Hinges and handles in wrought iron with traces of gilding. Keep your original key. It is evident that the destiny was that of an important family, since the quality of the cabinetry and the gilded ironwork is extremely high.
