Exceptional Large Flemish Garland with Holy Family, attributed to Erasmus Quellinus II (Antwerp, 1607-1678) and Daniel Seghers (Antwerp, 1590-1661), 17th century Flemish School
Oil on canvas. Measurements: 135 x 166 cm. Framed measurements: 145 x 176 cm. Origin: important private collection, Northern Spain. Erasmus Quellinus II, also called Erasmus the Younger (Antwerp, 1607-1678), was a Flemish painter and draftsman, member of a family of artists, mainly sculptors, a trade carried out by his father Erasmus Quellinus I and his brother, Artus Quellinus. Daniel Seghers (Antwerp, December 3, 1590 – November 2, 1661) was a Jesuit and Flemish Baroque painter. A disciple of Jan Brueghel the Elder, Seghers specialized in flower painting, particularly in the form of cartouches surrounded by garlands, a genre that he helped to establish with his highly appreciated paintings by European courts.
