Spanish School of the 19th Century - Angel and Christ dressed with display case, carved and polychrome wood
Dimensions: 77 x 98 x 30 cm/ 120 x 78 x 56 cm. Carved and polychrome wood, protected by a mahogany display case, where a religious figure of Christ accompanied by an angel is displayed. This type of religious imagery, very popular in 19th century Spain, was used both for private worship and for public ceremonies. The polychromy, in particular, reflects the interest in providing realism and expressiveness to sacred figures.
