Neoclassical lyre clock - Paris Napoleon III era
Important lyre clock in white marble, with enamelled dial with Arabic numerals for the hours and minutes, marked in Paris. Dimensions: 48 x 20 cm. Adorned with chased and gilded bronze, with details such as interlaced quivers, rosettes, festoons, garlands of flowers, bows, acanthus rump, laurel leaves, rows of pearls and twists of pearl threads. The compensated pendulum swings on a wreath of Rhine stones. The marble base is supported by four small legs with flattened cylinders. Noteworthy is its rare inverted knife escapement, with the pendulum suspension point at the top of the lyre, above the mechanism. The mechanism has been completely cleaned and checked by our watchmaker, working in perfect condition. It is wound monthly and is signed on the inside of the plate (visible after disassembly): E. TESTOT FILS A PARIS. Excellent chase and original condition of the gilding. Louis XVI style, Paris.
