18th century silver candlestick
Silver. Dimensions 9 × 21 × 12 cm. This 18th-century silver candlestick, designed to hold and extinguish candles, features a wide base and a curved handle, in the typical style of the period. The material, sterling silver, lends durability and beauty to the piece, while its elegant design, with possible engraved and embossed decorations, makes it both a functional and ornamental object. Candlesticks of this type were common in high-society homes in the 18th century, and their good preservation, together with the presence of goldsmith's marks, can considerably increase their historical and artistic value.
