Castilian School of the 16th Century - Saint Paul the Apostle
Polychrome carved wood. Dimensions 38 × 17 × 10 cm. Saint Paul the Apostle, with a solemn gesture, holds a book in his left hand while his right arm is raised, as if in a sign of preaching. His expression reflects firmness and wisdom, highlighting the elaborate folds of his tunic. The sculpture, belonging to the Castilian school of the 16th century, shows a clear influence of the Renaissance in the naturalistic details of the figure, while the polychromy highlights the realism characteristic of the religious art of the time.
