Oriental Dragons in Jade
Carved jade. Dimensions 12 × 14 × 1 and 9 × 12 × 1 cm. Two intricately carved intertwined oriental dragons glide in a dance of graceful, curved shapes. Dragons, a symbol of power, fortune and protection in Chinese tradition, reflect the artisans’ technical skill in working with jade. This decorative piece, probably from the 19th century, follows ornamental trends celebrating mythology and nature in Chinese culture.
