Michal Rovner is one of the most famous Israeli artists in the world, working in the field of contemporary art and best known for her video and photography works. Her works focus on themes such as time, memory, identity, and history, often utilizing techniques that combine digital technology with organic elements. Rovner has exhibited her works in prestigious museums and galleries worldwide, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and the Tate Modern in London. She also represented Israel at the Venice Biennale in 2003.

One of the characteristics of Rovner's works is the use of simplification and minimalism to convey deep feelings and emotions. Her artworks emphasize the emptiness and perseverance of time and how we experience reality and memory. Through the combination of new media, Rovner creates art that deals with human existence at a level of almost abstract simplicity. She narrows and condenses forms until they remain with an archetype - whether of a house or a person, the minimal necessary for shape identification. This simplification allows the viewer a wide interpretive space.
