המחבר מגדולי רבני הונגריה וראב"ד בודפסט לפני השואה, ושם הדפיס לראשונה את החיבור, הוא ניצל מהשואה ונודע בפעילתו בבית הדין להתרת עגונות, מיד לאחר השואה. הוא עלה לירושלים, והדפיס מחדש את הספר עם הוספות.
