Very rare first edition. Anonymous treatise on practical mnemonics, especially dedicated to the ladies (gentili donne). "It is likely to be by Maurizo Silvin, the author of 'Tratto di Menemotecnia" (Naples 1843), as the work begins with the same system of using certain consonants and linking them to numbered to form words associated with significant events of a particular date. The initial letters of the names of the 12 months are utilized in a similar manner, a set of playing cards is a menomonic template." (ref. Quaritch, cat. 1322,54)
