Friedrich Iwan, Three Winter Landscapes
including a view from the Krkonoše Mountains "Am Brunnberg", a view of the "Alte Isermühle" in Bad Flinsberg and a motif from the Owl Mountains "Euledörfel" in the Silesian county of Glatz, Friedrich Iwan, born in Landeshut in Lower Silesia, created a lasting memorial to his Silesian homeland, especially to the Krkonoše Mountains, with his finely rendered atmospheric winter landscapes, already during his lifetime the artist was affectionately praised as "Schnee-Iwan" (Snow-Iwan), each colour etching on paper, mid 20th century. century, each signed by hand "Fried. Iwan", each titled on the reverse, different condition, partly a little bit yellowed and stained, framed behind glass (bumped), folding dimensions each c. 24,5 x 29 cm. Artist's info: called "Schnee-Iwan", Germ. Painter, graphic artist and ex-libris artist (1889 Landeshut in Lower Silesia to 1967 Wangen in Allgäu), studied 1903-08 at the Royal School of Arts and Crafts in Breslau with Carl Ernst Morgenstern and 1910-14 at the Berlin Academy of Arts, member of the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands and the Freie Vereinigung der Graphiker zu Berlin, active first in Krummhübel, later in Hirschberg in the Riesengebirge, after 1946 in Wangen, source: Vollmer und Dressler.
