Cozy parlour with two chairs, table and colourful tablecloth, bouquet of flowers and fruit in front of a large window, impasto interior in lively brushwork and friendly colourfulness, oil on canvas on hardboard, dated and signed lower left "1926 W. Gasch.", inscribed on the reverse "Walther Gasch, vorm. Akademiedirektor zu Leipzig, born 10.4.1886 in the Pleißenburg pinz. 1926. old mill, porch front near Hirschsprung, Ore Mountains.", isolated paint layer chipping and injuries to the painting surface, somewhat bumped at the margins, slight need of cleaning, unframed, dimensions approx. 63.5 x 74 cm. Artist info: also Walter Gasch, germ. Painter, draughtsman, graphic artist, restorer, author and Nazi functionary (1886 Leipzig until 1962 Nentershausen-Dens near Bebra), studied from 1905 at the academy of arts in Dresden under Emanuel Hegenbarth and Oskar Zwintscher, here master student under Gotthardt Kuehl and later under Richard Müller, undertook study trips to Holland, France and Italy, from 1929 assistant for collotype and intaglio printing at the academy of arts in Leipzig, as head of the NSDAP's Saxon section for the fine arts from 1933 onwards he was a decisive initiator of the restrictive NS cultural policy in Dresden, member of the Dresdner Kunstgenossenschaft, member of the board of the Reichsverband Bildender Künstler Deutschlands and member of the "Deutscher Künstlerverband Dresden", in 1939 he was in charge of the large German art exhibition in the Haus der Deutschen Kunst in Munich, he worked in Leipzig and Dresden, from 1951 to 1956 he lived in Mönchhosbach, afterwards in Nentershausen, Source: Vollmer, Dressler, lists of pupils of the Dresden Academy, Schmaling "Künstlerlexikon Hessen-Kassel 2001-2010" and Tsuḳerman "Geschichte und bildende Kunst - Jahrbuch 2006 für Deutsche Geschichte".
