Wide flat landscape partly covered by snow remains with some houses and groups of trees on the horizon, watercolour, signed on the mount in pencil on the right "J. Daerr" and titled and dated on the left "Rügen (19)48", mount somewhat stained, framed under mount and behind glass, mount cut-out approx. 27 x 35.5 cm. Artist's info: German painter, draughtsman and lithographer (1909 Groppendorf to 1986 Witten), attended the State Art School in Plauen, here occupied with designs for lace and weaving, 1932-34 decorative painter, from 1934 studied at the College for Art Education in Berlin, 1940-42 war service, resident in Putbus, 1953 took part in the 3. German Art Exhibition in Dresden, left the GDR in 1958, was married to the woodcutter Hildegard Daerr, source: Vollmer and Eisold "Künstler in der DDR".
